BENTON – A man wanted in an aggravated battery investigation in Franklin County has been arrested following a crash and stabbing incident he was involved in late Monday night and early Tuesday morning in Benton.

Benton Police Chief Chris Funkhouser says 29-year-old Keith E. Redman was involved in an injury crash late Monday night at the intersection of Webster Street and South Main. Redman was driving one the vehicles involved. He fled on foot. The car he was driving was stolen out of Williamson County.
Occupants at the scene were taken to Franklin Hospital for treatment of injuries. Police continued searching for Redman who was also an investigative lead in a recent aggravated battery investigation reported on March 20.
Then just before 2 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to a stabbing in the 1000 block of Enterprise Street. They found the victim suffering from a stab wound in their lower chest area. The victim was alert and witnesses identified Redman as the suspect. The victim was taken to Franklin Hospital and later flown to a trauma center. They are listed at this time in stable condition.
Police found Redman running in the area of North Grand and Joplin Street. He was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Battery and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. He was lodged in the Franklin County Jail.
Benton Police were assisted by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit, West City Police, Illinois State Police and the Franklin County Emergency Management Agency.
